Located in Mount Vernon, Ohio, Christian Star Academy has been serving students and families since 1981. CSA began with early childhood classes and a conviction that remains important to our educational philosophy today: a strong foundation in a child’s earliest years can have a lasting impact on future learning, development, and success.
From the beginning, Christian Star Academy has sought to educate the whole student academically, emotionally, physically, spiritually, and socially. More than forty years later, that commitment continues as we provide a personal, Christ-centered educational environment where students can be known, supported, challenged, and encouraged to grow.
Throughout our history, families have come to CSA for many different academic, personal, and spiritual reasons. For some, Christian Star Academy has provided a new beginning when previous educational experiences have been difficult. Our staff has had the privilege of seeing students overcome challenges, discover abilities, develop confidence, grow in their faith, and experience successes that once seemed out of reach. For generations of students and families, CSA has sought to be a safe harbor where they are welcomed, valued, and given opportunities to grow.
We believe education is about far more than academic achievement. It is an opportunity to develop knowledge, wisdom, character, responsibility, and a biblical understanding of the world. God's Word provides the foundation from which we approach learning, relationships, personal responsibility, and the purpose of education itself.
We also remain committed to making Christian education accessible to families whenever possible. Throughout CSA’s history, that commitment has required faithful stewardship, generosity, sacrifice, and trust in God's provision. We recognize that Christian Star Academy ultimately exists to serve His purposes, and we remain grateful for His faithfulness throughout more than four decades of ministry.
Today, we carry that foundation forward with a commitment to strengthen Christian Star Academy for the generations still to come. Our desire is to preserve the personal care, biblical foundation, and whole-student education that have defined CSA since 1981 while continuing to grow into a stronger, more effective, and sustainable school prepared to serve students and families well into the future.
To see each student become a lifelong learner and faithful follower of Christ who loves God wholeheartedly, grows in wisdom and character, and uses their God-given gifts to serve others and glorify Him.
Christian Star Academy exists to partner with families in providing a Christ-centered education that develops the whole child academically, spiritually, socially, and personally. Grounded in the absolute authority of God’s Word, we seek to prepare each student to navigate a changing world with wisdom, faithfully steward their God-given gifts, and live a life accountable to God.
1. We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word of God (2 Timothy 3:15-17; 2 Peter 1:21).
2. We believe there is only one God, eternally existent in three persons-Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19).
3. We believe in the deity of Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death, His resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, His personal return in power and glory (John 10:30; 1 Corinthians 15:3-8; Acts 1:11; Revelation 19:11).
4. We believe in the absolute necessity of regeneration by the Holy Spirit for salvation because of the sinfulness of human nature. We believe that people are justified by faith in the shed blood of Christ and that only by God’s grace and through faith we are saved (John 3:16-19; Romans 3:23, 5:8-9; Ephesians 2:8-10; Galatians 3:21-24).
5. We believe in the resurrection of both believers and unbelievers. Those who believe in Jesus Christ are saved to a resurrection of eternal life. Those who do not believe in Christ for their salvation are resurrected to be condemned (John 5:24-30; Revelation 20:15).
6. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 8:9; Galatians 3:26-29).
7. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit who indwells in each Christian and enables him or her to live a godly life (Romans 8:5-17; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20).
8. We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning; the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as defined in Scripture (Gen 2:18-25).
9. We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ (Acts 3:19-21; Rom 10:9-10; 1 Cor 6:9-11).
10. We believe that God wonderfully and firmly creates each person as male and female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God (Gen 1:26-27).
11. We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life (Ps 139).
Christian Star Academy is a state-chartered, non-graded, multi-age, non-denominational Christian school. Rather than placing every student into a traditional grade-level structure and expecting everyone to progress through material at the same pace, CSA focuses on the individual student.
Students work at the level that best fits their current understanding and abilities. This means a student may be working at different levels in different subjects. When a student needs additional time to master a concept, we can provide it. When a student is ready to move forward, learning does not have to stop simply because the rest of a class is not ready.
We use a variety of curriculum resources, instructional approaches, and learning materials to help students understand concepts before progressing. This individualized approach allows us to meet students where they are while continually encouraging meaningful academic growth.
Non-graded does not mean there are no standards or expectations. It means a student's education is not limited by a traditional grade-level classroom structure. A student may be advanced in one subject while needing additional development in another. We meet students at their current level and help them progress toward greater mastery and independence.
There is no single type of CSA student. Some thrive in a smaller, more personal environment. Some need help rebuilding academic foundations or confidence, while others need greater challenge in areas of strength. We seek to understand each student's abilities and needs, then provide an environment where they can continue moving forward academically, personally, and spiritually.
Annual tuition is $6,166 for Kindergarten through Grade 8 and $8,400 for Grades 9 through 12.
Tuition may be paid annually, semi-annually, quarterly, or monthly. Families are encouraged to explore Ohio's EdChoice Expansion Scholarship, which may significantly reduce their tuition responsibility depending on current eligibility requirements.
Christian faith is foundational to everything we do. Biblical truth is not confined to a Bible class. It influences how we approach academics, character, relationships, responsibility, service, and our understanding of the world. CSA is non-denominational and serves families from a variety of Christian backgrounds.
The best way to understand Christian Star Academy is to experience it for yourself. We encourage prospective families to contact us, visit the school, meet our staff, ask questions, and tell us about their student. This gives both your family and CSA an opportunity to determine whether our educational environment is a good fit.
